MEET TAYLA
2020 unfolded in ways no one could have predicted. The shift from the familiar to the bizarre was swift, forcing us to adapt or face dire consequences. Personally, I count myself fortunate to have retained my job, albeit enduring a month without pay, coincidentally in May, just before Mother's Day when finances were tight.
My mother and I had weathered the stringent lockdown measures together in Johannesburg, which took a heavy toll on her, especially as she was unemployed. Despite her own struggles, she always prioritized others' well-being.

During this challenging time, the idea of crafting homemade candles struck me. Utilizing only ingredients found in my kitchen, I spent a sleepless night creating six candles. Later, I realized that these candles not only possessed aesthetic beauty but also symbolized hope and illumination, serving as a reminder of the inner light we all possess, even in our darkest moments.
They underscored the importance of self-care, a necessity rather than a luxury. My hope is that these candles will provide a sanctuary for individuals to nurture themselves as much as they do others.
